Look for this mailing in April (sample image above).

Even though the payment processing software, Paymentus, is still being used to process payments, the billing system and customer portal are completely new. Because of that, previous payment profiles do not transfer over, and customers will need to create a new account and re-enroll preferred payment options.

Late fees will be waived through the month of June to allow time for customers to set up their new account. However, account balances and due dates still apply, and accounts that were already delinquent or become delinquent may be subject to shutoff.

We are here to assist!

Sample Utility Bill

The City updated its billing system in 2019. In 2023, an online payment option was added through Paymentus. The current update replaces the core billing system itself.

We understand the change can be frustrating. The current system has had limitations that made it harder for customers to manage their accounts and for staff to provide service. It doesn’t support things like water usage or automated payment plans, and the new system is intended to improve those issues.

Customers heard about the change closer to the launch (March 31) because access to the new system, including registration and new account numbers, is not available until it goes live. The goal is to share information when customers can actually take action, such as setting up their account and making payments.

Customers are being notified through multiple channels, including social media, email, local media alerts, City newsletter, updates on the City’s website, and bill inserts included in the March billing cycle in both English and Spanish. In addition, all customers will receive a mailed bill in April that includes their new account number.

New System Communications

Every customer will receive a paper bill for the first bill from the new system, even if they had previously been paperless. Watch for this envelope in your mailbox.
