About coming Home

Welcome to Coming Home – Amarillo’s Homeless Outreach and Supportive Housing Program

The Coming Home Program was established by the City of Amarillo in 2018 in response to chronic and unsheltered homelessness. We are a multidisciplinary team of outreach workers, case managers, housing navigators, peer support specialists, and mental health professionals committed to walking with individuals on their path from homelessness to stability. We serve individuals in Amarillo who are:

  • experiencing unsheltered or chronic homelessness,
  • living in a shelter or places not meant for habitation,
  • facing complex barriers such as mental illness, substance use, or justice involvement; and
  • in need of coordinated care and housing support.

Our approach is rooted in compassion, dignity, and evidence-based practices. We engage people where they are in shelters, on the streets, and in encampments to build trust and connect them to vital resources, shelter, healthcare, and hope.

What makes Coming Home different

We provide comprehensive, wrap-around support that meets individuals where they are — offering assistance at every stage of their journey. From outreach and housing navigation to supportive housing case management and mental health services, our team walks alongside each person to help them overcome barriers, build stability, and achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Our approach is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and respect for each person’s unique path toward healing and independence.

We understand that everyone’s journey is different and tailor our approach to each individual.

We work hand-in-hand with local shelters, healthcare providers, mental health agencies, and landlords.

We track outcomes, measure progress, and adapt our services based on what works.
