Georgia Street Reconstruction

The Georgia Street Reconstruction project is a major infrastructure improvement that continues the arterial expansion of Georgia Street from Hollywood Road to Burk Lane — a span of approximately 1.5 miles. This project is designed to support growth, improve traffic flow, and enhance drainage in the area.

Current Phase

Phase 1 of the Georgia Street Reconstruction Project began in early June, 2025.

This phase includes underground utility work and new paving and is expected to take approximately six months, depending on weather conditions.

Project Limits

Burk Lane to Loop 335

To minimize impact to the public, temporary roadways will be in place to help divert traffic around the construction zone.

Motorists are advised to follow all posted traffic signs in the area for safety.

The Georgia Street reconstruction is funded through a combination of sources:

  • Proposition 1 Street Bonds
  • FY 2024/2025 Street Bonds
  • Street Department Capital Funds
  • Drainage Revenue Bonds
  • Drainage Capital Funds
  • Economic Development Authority (EDA) Grant

This collaborative funding approach ensures that the project meets both current and future needs of our growing city.
