Socktober was SO AWESOME, that Amarillo Public Library and the City of Amarillo’s Coming Home program invite the community to keep the kindness coming with CAREVEMBER. Throughout November, APL locations will be drop off sites for donations of health and hygiene items, and Coming Home will use the donations to support individuals and local shelters during what is expected to be a rough winter season.
Coming Home Coordinator Justin Ward says he hopes to build on last year’s success. “Amarillo showed up in a big way for CAREVEMBER in 2025. The hygiene items collected were a huge blessing to the people who received them and we hope to match that generosity in 2026.”
Director of Library Services Amanda Barrera says the library’s partnership with Coming Home is beneficial to the entire city. “Our community is stronger when our neighbors are safe and healthy. We were gratified by our patrons’ support of the SOCKTOBER initiative and hope to see a similar response in November.”
