Amarillo Public Library’s Winter/Spring term of Language Classes is kicking off soon! Whether you’re looking to brush up on your high school Spanish, or need to improve your English skills, APL has got you covered!

English as a Second Language
ESL Classes are available at the Downtown Library or the East Branch! Downtown meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while classes at the East Branch meet on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Registration is appreciated but not required.

  • East Branch Library
    Register for classes at the East Branch Library on Tuesday, January 20 between 6 to 7:20 PM. Classes meet Mondays & Tuesdays from January 26 through April 28 at 6 PM.
  • Downtown Library
    Register for Downtown Library classes on Thursday, January 22 between 5:30 and 7 PM. Classes will meet at 5:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 27 through April 30.

Spanish as a Second Language – East Branch Library – 2232 SE 27th

  • Level 1 – Learn the foundations of Spanish!
    Classes begin January 16 and meet every Other Friday at 11 AM.
  • Level 2 – Start getting fluent!
    Classes begin January 10 and meet every other Saturday at 10 AM.
  • Bilingual Conversation Hour – Chat in English & Spanish with a group!
    The Conversation Hour meets every other Wednesday at 4:30 PM starting January 21!

The City of Amarillo offers translations of content on Amarillo.gov through the Google Translate web translator (translate.google.com). Because Google Translate is an external service, the City does not control the quality or accuracy of translated content. As a result, some translations may contain inaccuracies, and there may be issues with the appearance of translated pages, including errors in images.

If you encounter incorrect or substandard translations, you can help improve them by contributing better translations using Google Translate:

  1. Hover over any text containing an error, and a pop-up box will appear.
  2. Click “Contribute a better translation.”
  3. Double-click the area of the pop-up that says “Click a word for alternative translations, or double-click to edit directly.”
  4. Make your edits directly in the text box.
  5. Press “Contribute” to submit your suggested changes.
