Amarillo City Transit + Amarillo College Partnership
OPEN SPACES – The Official Blog of the City of Amarillo
Beginning Aug. 15, it will be a lot more convenient for Amarillo College students to get around town.
Thanks to a unique collaboration between the City of Amarillo, Amarillo College (AC) and Amarillo National Bank (ANB), AC students will be able to ride Amarillo City Transit buses throughout the city for the 2019-2020 school year – free of charge.
This one-of-a-kind agreement was made possible by a $25,000 gift from ANB.
The goal? To help alleviate potential transportation problems for AC students as they further their education.
“Amarillo City Transit, as well as the entire city, is grateful to be a part of this agreement,” said City of Amarillo Transit Director Marita Wellage-Reiley. “This will help AC students who may be in need of transportation to and from classes, as well as other locations around the city. We are thrilled to be a part of it.”
Any individual with an AC identification card (including AC staff and administration) will be able to take advantage of the free transportation, which includes all city bus routes and Spec-Trans services. The free service will be available six days a week (Monday through Saturday), from 6:20 a.m. to 7 p.m.
