  TRAFFIC

The Traffic Engineering Department is responsible for the planning, design, installation, operation, and maintenance of all traffic control devices including traffic signs, traffic signals, school zone flashers, and pavement markings. These activities are accomplished using nationally recognized standards and methods found in the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The Department is responsible for authorizing street light installations, operating the computerized traffic signal system, supervising the adult school crossing guard program for elementary schools, investigating sight restriction complaints, issuing driveway and parade permits, and conducting a traffic counting program. Also, the Traffic Engineering Department carries out the City's function as the Metropolitan Planning Organization performing transportation and transit planning activities.

ACT Tickets
ACT tickets are available in our office in Room 204 of City Hall at 509 E. 7th Avenue.

Permits
An application for parade, race, or street closure permit may be obtained from the office of the City Traffic Engineering Department, Room 204, Amarillo City Hall, 509 East 7th Ave. or call (806) 378-6297. You may also download and mail in the form provided below.
