Mayor and Commissioners

Debra McCartt, Mayor:
Debra McCartt  served as City Commissioner from 2001-2005.  She was elected Mayor of Amarillo in 2005. Since that time, Debra has taken an active role in her position as Mayor.  She is employed by Texas Tech School of Medicine as the Senior Director of Community Relations.  She is the 2008-2009 President-Elect of the Texas Municipal League; a member of the Texas Municipal League Board of Directors; Texas Department of Information Resources Board; Laura W. Bush Women’s Advisory Board; Center City of Amarillo board member; Eveline Rivers board member, Amarillo Chamber of Commerce member; Amarillo College Community Links Board, Panhandle Regional Planning Commission board, and the Panhandle Workforce Development Consortium’s Governing Body.   She is married to Joe Bob McCartt.

Madison Scott has been a member of the City Commission since 2005. He is a businessman and the owner of several Mr. Gatti’s entertainment centers. Mr. Scott is a member of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee, Amarillo Rotary Club and Deacon and Trustee for the Church of Christ at the Colonies. Mr. Scott is the husband of D’Nan and they have two children.

Brian J. Eades, Commissioner Place 2:
Dr. Brian J. Eades has served the City Commission since 2007.  He has a private gynecologist-obstetrician practice with the Women’s Healthcare Associates since 1989 and is a partner in the Awake Medical Day Spa.  Dr. Eades is also on the Board of Directors of the Texas Medical Association Foundation, and he is also involved in the Texas Republican Party, First Baptist Church of Amarillo and United Way.  Dr. Eades and his wife, Jennifer, have two children, Lauren and Rachel Eades who are both in college.

Brian J. Eades
 

Ron Boyd, Commissioner Place 3:
Ron Boyd has been a member of the City Commission since 2007.  He is owner of Duncan and Boyd Jewelers.    He has been the chairman and board member of the United Way, and has been involved in the Amarillo Area Foundation.  He helped establish a Panhandle Branch of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Amarillo.  In addition, Mr. Boyd was named the 2008 Amarillo Globe-News Man of the Year for his many years of philanthropic service.  Mr. Boyd and his wife, Cheri, have five children and eight grandchildren.

Ronald Boyd
 

Jim Simms, Commissioner Place 4:
Jim Simms has served the City Commission since 2005.  He is employed by Amarillo National Bank as Vice President, Asset Management Business Development.  He is currently serving as a board member of the Children’s Learning Centers and cabinet member of United Way of Amarillo and Canyon.  Mr. Simms and his wife, Freeda, have three children and six grandchildren.

City Commission Meetings are open to the public.
City Commission Meetings are held each Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the City Hall Commission
Chambers, 509 S.E. Seventh Avenue. Meetings are open to the public, and an agenda is posted
in the foyer of City Hall on the preceding Friday.
