Education of food handlers provides more qualified employees and this reduces the risk of food borne illness outbreaks caused by improper food preparation and handling techniques. City ordinance and state law require one person at each establishment to obtain a Food Managers Certification issued by the Environmental Health Department. We offer an unaccredited class on the second Wednesday of each month at 8 am. The class is located in our classroom at 821 S. Johnson. If you pass the test we issue our city food managers card for a cost of $40. The links below will help you find on line courses and state accredited classes. If you choose to take these classes, you can obtain a city food manager card from our office for $40 once you present a valid certification of passing the course. Our cards are issued for one year and are renewed for a cost of $10.
