Expanded Hours • Half Price Pet Adoptions

Amarillo, TX – Looking for love? If so, you’re in luck! The City of Amarillo is partnering with the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society and DAWGSnTexas in support of PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend. In addition to Amarillo Animal Control’s new hours on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the shelter will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. this Sunday, May 4. The Humane Society will have the same hours and will offer half price pet adoptions. You can help one of millions of loveable, healthy cats and dogs find their “fur-ever” homes this weekend through adoption – and at half the cost.

Dogs: $50

Puppies: $55
(includes mandatory parvo test)

Pit Bulls: $60

Cats/Kittens: $30

During this weekend’s adoption event, the fees will be cut in half and will cover the first set of vaccinations, spay or neuter (if there are no complications) and a microchip implant.

The Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society’s mission is to adopt as many animals as possible in lieu of euthanization, to promote the spay/neuter of family pets, and to provide education on responsible pet ownership. It is located next door to Amarillo Animal Control at 3501 S. Osage. The Animal Control Department works to reunite lost pets with their rightful owners.  When pets are not claimed, Animal Control works with the Humane Society to find them new homes.

Also in partnership with this weekend’s pet adoption event is DAWGSnTexas, which works to promote awareness within our community about the immediate need to reduce the number of unwanted and discarded animals. The cornerstone of their program is to educate and promote the concept of spaying and neutering.
