Amarillo, TX – Hunger doesn’t take a summer break. That’s why the City of Amarillo’s Community Development Office is partnering with the Amarillo Independent School District to administer the free Summer Lunch Program to children attending summer school this year. The program is available May 23 through August 1, and is open to all children regardless of their enrollment in summer school.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides reimbursement for free nutritious meals and snacks. The program helps children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school.
