Spec-Trans Routes Beginning at 5:30 a.m.
Fixed Route Beginning at 11 a.m.
Amarillo, TX – After being shut down for the last two days due to the massive snow event that began late Sunday night, Amarillo City Transit will resume Spec-Trans services at 5:30 a.m. and Fixed Route services at 11 a.m.
“We’ll be starting at 5:30 a.m. with seven buses on our Spec-Trans routes so we can get people to their destinations in as timely of a fashion as possible,” says Judy Phelps, Transit Manager. “We’ll have three more ready to go if needed. We’re running test routes this evening to avoid as many delays as possible.”
Spec-Trans is a system of public transportation providing demand responsive curb-to-curb service for certified mobility-impaired citizens of Amarillo who cannot physically use accessible Fixed Route buses.
“We have additional staffing available for those who may need assistance getting from their front door to the bus,” Phelps says.
For customers utilizing the City’s Fixed Route transit services, Phelps says to expect delays.
“If anyone has specific questions about their route, please call Transit at 378-3095,” she says. “We’ll be happy to provide those riders with updated information,” Phelps says.
