The City of Amarillo Utilities Division is scheduled to begin a project to replace three manholes in the area of I-40 and Travis St. and I-40 and Lipscomb St. As a result, traffic will be rerouted around the south service road beginning Monday, Aug. 13. The section is scheduled to reopen Friday, Aug. 24.
“This work is part of a continuing project to replace old, deteriorated brick manholes,” says Jonathan Gresham, civil engineer with the City of Amarillo’s Utility division. “The contractor will replace three brick manholes with new fiberglass manholes. The street repairs will be made as soon as possible to reopen the street.”
Motorists are asked to drive carefully through the construction area. The City would like to thank residents and area motorists in advance for their patience during the project. The City and its contractor will work hard to minimize any adverse effects of this closure to area motorists and residents.
