Amarillo Emergency Management Assists in Wildfire Response

UPDATE:

Responders report that five to 10 acres burned as a result of the wildfire, which has been declared under control.

In addition to Randall County, Amarillo and Canyon firefighters, the villages of Timbercreek, Palisades and Lake Tanglewood Volunteer Fire Departments also responded to this fire. There were no injuries to the public and evacuees are being allowed to return to their homes.  The Emergency Operations Center is scaling back its activities.

Amarillo, TX – Several local agencies are on the scene of a fully involved wildfire that stemmed from a house fire in Timbercreek Canyon. Firefighters from Randall County and the cities of Amarillo and Canyon have responded, in addition to the Randall County Sheriff’s Office. 

Residents have been evacuated from at least five homes as a precaution at this time. Amarillo’s Emergency Operations Center has activated to provide support services. The American Red Cross has a reception center has been set up at Cowboy Church located at 8827 S FM 1541.

Residents are asked to avoid the Timbercreek Canyon area until the wildfire has been contained.
